I am beyond grateful for this community! There isn't a right word to express how my heart feels. I had a 10 minute lull around 4:25 on Sunday where I got to sit outside in the sun and feel all the feels with a few tears running down my face. I am overwhelmed with gratitude, love and support for and from this community! 🥰💫
If I haven't met you yet, I am Desiree, the owner and Herbalist! I found Herbalism through my own health journey and plant curiosity. I had to pause life on the road due to COVID, so I finally made the decision in my growth to study Herbalism. I studied at Vital Ways Institute with Christopher Smaka, may he rest in peace among the plants, and became an Advanced Certified Herbalist. I spent more time on the road and saw the lack of access to natural medicine and informed health options in many communities that needed that type of access.
After finishing life on the road, I settled in Kitsap County and became the resident Herbalist at Gig Harbor Apothecary. I fell in love with Tea Making there and am beyond grateful for my time there. I nerd out about digestion, especially bitters, nervines, and adaptogens as they benefited me the most in my own health journey. 🌱
I feel in love with Shelton and its' community from afar, it felt like home and I knew I had to move. I sold my house to move to Shelton and open the Apothecary of Shelton. A small dream of getting herbal medicine and informed health options to a community who needed it (and as I have learned, wanted it) became my reality this weekend. 🌻
The Apothecary of Shelton, hence the name, is for the community and in time what is provided will change with what the the community needs! It is here to give you a place to ask questions and find other health options, so please any suggestion and feedback is appreciated and welcomed! The apothecary is safe place and everyone is welcome!
I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who took time out of their day to show support on opening weekend and for those who had to wait while it was busy/while I weighed herbs! It was lovely meeting you all! If couldn't make it, I look forward to meeting you when I do!
